African By Art Recap

On the evening of September 10th, 2019, African By Art, an agency created by Salima Adda and Maureen Nyamey, put on their bi-annual show in The Watson Hotel in Manhattan, New York. The layout of the runway was in a U-shape that traveled through the crowd seating. This arrangement now only made the show feel intimate but, it gave the crowd, which was smaller in size, a chance to feel a part of the show. The aura in the audience was calm, a refreshing feel from the common electrifying vibe that usually comes with the business of New York Fashion Week. Thirteen designers representing countries in Africa including Liberia, Ethiopia, Senegal as well as the African diaspora, showcased their latest lines. The faces in the crowd smiled of approval as the models walked down runway. All the collections were met with cheers including the crowd favorite, Erenti who presented an array of monochromatic two-set pieces for men. Watch the recap below for more on the show.
